Desiree attended California State University San Bernardino where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2012 in Communications-Public Relations. After graduating, she became a health and wellness coordinator. For five years, she developed and implemented nutrition and exercise programs alongside public health foundations and non-profits, such as the Humana Foundation, FIND Food Bank, UC Riverside School of Medicine, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley.
While working Desiree decided to pursue her passion in physical training and became a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist. She also received her Mat Pilates certification through Body Arts and Science International (BASI). For over 3 years, Desiree built and led personal and group training programs at 24 Hour Fitness and Sun City Shadow Hills.
In 2017, Desiree decided to rejoin the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley as the assistant to the Director of Development as she pursues her Master’s degree in Psychology. She is dedicated and compassionate in continuing to help others not only improve their physical health, but also their emotional and cognitive abilities to achieve a better quality of life. With a never-ending passion for higher education, she currently oversees the Boys & Girls Club College Scholarship program and serves as Co-Chair of the Financial Aid Committee of the Regional Plan for College and Career Success. Her plan is to graduate with her Master’s degree in 2020, and lead in the development of mental health programs with a focus on preventative methods such as nutrition and physical activity for communities across Riverside County.
