Carol Barry graduated from La Quinta High School in 2015. During her four years, she was a part of the swim and water polo team. She also participated in the school’s public service academy and was a teacher’s assistant for the class. She joined the academy hoping to learn about going into the service and later changed her mind but, stayed in the academy because she fell in love with what they were about.
She is now a sophomore at California State University, San Bernardino at the Palm Desert Campus majoring in Communications. She is the secretary for the communications club and enjoys volunteering at shelters and handing out food to the homeless. She then wants to go on to get her master’s in Business Administration. This is her second year receiving the Pathways to Success scholarship and her first year on the leadership team.
Currently, she works for Desert Insurance Solutions as a Life and Health Insurance Agent. The President of the agency, Carrie Babij, spoke at one of our women in leadership forums. Carol reached out to her after the conference and asked if she had any internship opportunities available. Carol interned for one week and was offered a part time job while she goes to school. After she gets her bachelor’s degree, Carrie has offered her a full-time job as a licensed agent in all departments. Carrie’s overall goal is to have Carol run the company one day.
Carol has a three-year-old son named Jacob who is the light of her life. She tries to spend as much time with him as possible. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors with Jacob, hiking, swimming, and volunteering. She is very happy to be where she is at and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
