Melissa Ceballos graduated from Coachella Valley High School (CVHS) in 2012. During her years at CVHS, she played softball and participated in the Link Crew Team. She completed her high school career with a 4.0 GPA and was ranked 13th in her graduating class. Melissa earned the Dr. Carreon Scholarship to continue her studies at College of the Desert (COD).
She also earned the CVEP Pathways to Success Scholarship during the rest of her college journey. Melissa graduated from COD and received her Associates Degrees in Administration of Justice and Liberal Arts in May 2015 and transferred to California State University San Bernardino Palm Desert (CSUSB PDC). She is very proud that she was able to maintain 4.0 GPA while at COD. Due to her academic achievements, she was invited to become a part of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was invited to speak at COD’s commencement ceremony for graduating with honors.
Throughout her studies, Melissa was active in the COD Alumni Association (CODAA) Scholarship Club, CVEP Pathways to Success Leadership Team, and MEChA. Her involvement in these clubs helped her stay active in college and in community service related events. Melissa has also interned with CVEP PTS where she assisted with program and event planning. Additionally, she volunteered in Herbert Hoover Elementary and completed her student teaching at Saul Martinez Elementary where she interacted with various grade levels, helped with in-class time activities, and taught.
Melissa graduated from CSUSB PDC this spring. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice, along with her multiple subject teaching credential. Her professional goal is to become an elementary teacher in the Coachella Valley. She would like to gain experience in her career before returning to obtain her Master’s Degree in Education. Melissa hopes that through teaching she can give back to her community by helping and influencing children in a positive way.
