Louisa Nolan graduated from Xavier College Preparatory high school in 2014 and is currently majoring in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Math and Science at College of the Desert where she is completing her prerequisites to transfer into a dental hygiene program. To reach this goal, she has been involved on campus through two research internships sponsored by NASA and the National Science Foundation. Louisa spent the summer of 2016 conducting experiments on the Hydrogen Sulfide concentration around the Salton Sea as well as created a poster that was later presented at JPL in Pasadena. This led to
the opportunity to intern during the winter of 2017 using techniques for extracting and identifying organics and microbiota in the water dispensed by College of the Desert Hydration Stations. Aside from this, Louisa is Vice President of the Chemistry club and an active member in the MESA program. She is a student intern for One Future Coachella Valley as well as a member of the Leadership team. She hopes to apply her experiences and knowledge to future opportunities that may arise.
