Karen Arriaga, was born and raised in Los Angeles, and came to the Coachella valley 10 years ago. She is currently a student at College of the Desert. This is her 2nd year at COD. She will be graduating and transferring out to Cal State San Bernardino next year 2018. She plans to double major in Early Childhood Development with special Ed children, and in Deaf studies, American Sign Language to become an interpreter and work with deaf children. She is currently working at the McCarthy Child Development Center as a Teacher’s assistant, and became an intern 4 months ago. She is part of a group called Infant Circle, where they work with Special Ed children from the ages 0-3. She loves working with special Ed children and one day hopes to become a Special Ed teacher. Her goal is to get a Masters degree in ECE- Early childhood education and eventually her Doctorates. She is involved in clubs, community service and activities at College of the Desert. She has been on COD’s Honor Roll for 2 years now. She is really motivated to accomplish her goals in life to help her community and family.
