Fatima Salcedo graduated from Cathedral City High School (CCHS) in 2013. After graduating from CCHS, Fatima received a 2-year CVEP and COD Alumni Association scholarship in the amount of $5000 to attend College of the Desert (COD). During her time at COD, she became an active member of both the Alas con Futuro Club and the CODAA Scholarship Club where she served as President for the 2014-15 Term. In addition, she also interned with CVEP Pathways to Success where she coordinated the CVEP PTS Leadership Team.
Two years later, Fatima obtained her Associates degree on Communication Studies from COD. She then transferred to CSU Fullerton where worked on obtaining her Bachelor’s degree on Communication Studies and a minor on Women and Gender Studies. Fatima continued as a CVEP scholarship recipient, through Pathways to Success for the remaining of her time at CSUF. She also continued to stay involved the CVEP PTS Leadership Team.
During her two years at CSUF, Fatima became part of the California Dream Network (CDN) steering committee, where she worked along with students from all over California. At her campus, she along with a group of students, founded the student led organization Diversity Resilience Education Access Movement Co-Operation (D.R.E.A.M. Co-Op) to support undocumented students. She served as vice-president for the organization for the 2016-17 term.
Fatima completed her undergraduate career at California State University, Fullerton in May, 2017. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree of Arts on Human Communication Studies and a minor on Women and Gender Studies. Fatima graduated with Cum Laude Honors (3.5-3.74 GPA). Her parents are extremely proud that Fatima has been the first in her immediate family to obtain a four-year college education. She now plans to return home to the Coachella Valley. She aims to obtain employment in an organization that will support her goals of increasing and improving the resources of higher education in her community.
